Amazing article, few facets you might have missed in analyzing:
A.
- Comparing R&D and the pace of upcoming new features - If we analyse past 2 years: Which company has brought radical data features, changing the industry trends: Google, Amazon, MS, Snowflake or Databricks?
I believe its Databricks..
- This being the key indicator of past, present and future growth, will it foster my decision around investing into any IPO/Shares???
100% I will..
Future is consistent R&D into data platform space, companies which can bring innovations, product features sensing industry needs, will be the leader in this market.
B.
Another key aspect into consideration, if you invest into Google, Microsoft or AWS, and assuming If they grows, then subsequently their key ecosystem players too will grow[key is imp here]..
Now either you invest in all these three major players and hedge the risk or else invest in a data company which has already leveraged hedging there....
Great points Paresh. You are spot on about Databricks innovation leading the future of the industry (consolidation and open-source being key examples). With excellent execution and maintaining that innovative strategy, I think Databricks will be a long-term winner in the space. For me to comfortably make that prediction, I would need more insight from internal employees about execution. (Perhaps this is an opportunity for a follow-up article after speaking with Databricks employees)
With LLMs like ChatGPT ML becomes a lot less important. What is important though is how such LLMs can be accessed and fine-tuned while providing full data protection. In this area Databricks has to catch up with Palantir.

I prefer the upside of Dataiku who have a far superior SaaS AI ML solution..
Interesting. I’ve heard of Dataiku but never used it, will look into it.
Both platforms serve different purposes but it would great your analysis after you do deep dive into Dataiku. I did a free trial hosted on the cloud
Very simple to get started, pull my data, create models and train them. Real end to real ML cycle, and no coding was necessary.
Huh - so you Love em but don’t want to join em!?! (; Get it but I wouldn’t sleep on the open…
Guilty! Love the technology & vision for the company! The investment decision’s about risk management
